Abstract
In 2017, Environmental Health - Public Health Seattle and King County launched the Food Safety Rating System, the first of its kind in Washington State. In 2018, we initiated a multi-layered evaluation of the system, including robust qualitative research led by community partners and guided by Community-Based Participatory Action Research (CBPAR) methodologies. This discussion shares findings from the evaluation, highlights the fundamental role of community partners, shows the critical need for CBPAR, and provides examples of how we are addressing equity impacts of the rating system.
