Abstract
This phenomenological study dwells into the role of politics for educational leaders and teachers in accepting and applying for principalship. Semi-structured interview and chain referral techniques were used to gather data in the study. The study captured the life stories and political epiphanies of fifteen Filipino school leaders. Three interesting categorical themes from life stories of the key informants emerged from the study. Specifically, the political experiences of principal-respondents yielded a theme called political arenas of principalship (human arena, contextual arena, and procedural arena), which describe the role of politics in accepting the post. This paper also discusses the qualities of principals under each arena.
