Is YouthPreneurship the ‘sine qua non’ for Stemming Endemic African Youth Emigration to Europe?

Abstract

It is no news that, on average, over 2,000 African Immigrants, particularly youths, die every year crossing the Mediterranean Sea in search of ‘greener pastures’ abroad, principally Europe. While much has been said, written, debated and documented about this subject, immigration; few practical steps have been taking to either mitigate or eradicate this precarious situation that has and continue to plague African youths, the continent of Africa and; the world at large. Research shows that difficulties communities in African nations face today are quite enormous and; one that demands strong leadership rooted in transparency and accountability. The overwhelming question is, ‘YouthPreneurship’, a mechanism for empowering youths with knowledge and skills necessary for the twenty-first century businesses with creative business model a way to develop anti-corruption mindset, drive community service sense a way to reducing unnecessary emigration to traveling abroad (especially Europe)? This is an exploratory study where the researcher considers challenges African youths are faced with and; solutions available through engaging them in entrepreneurship. The researchers of this study hope that the outcomes will further benefit educational institutions, developed and the developing nations and; to serve as lessons learned for knowledge and practice.
