The Effect of Internal Factors on Students’ Mathematics Learning Achievement

Abstract

Regression analysis is the most popular method used to examine the effect of the independent variables on the dependent variable. However, in education data, it is often found that independent variable data is classified as qualitative data, so it is not possible to apply this method for analysis. This research utilizes regression analysis method with dummy variable to examine the effect of internal factors consisting of interest, motivation, and intelligence toward mathematics learning achievement. The intelligence variable was examined by students’ cognitive potential that is classified as a qualitative variable. The findings showed significant effect of interest, motivation, and intelligence, either partially or simultaneously. The obtained model showed differences in the students’ achievement that have enough, moderate, and good cognitive potential
