Transparency, Power, and Communication: Critical Analysis of Public Policy and Diplomacy in Twenty-first Century

Abstract

In a global world context, public policy and public diplomacy models of governments are facing multiple challenges and difficulties. How do states, especially great powers, deal with these difficulties? This is a complicated issue of governance, policy, communication, and international affairs. It needs to be analyzed in an interdisciplinary manner with references to international studies, political science and communication/media studies. In this paper, public policy and public diplomacy strategies of major great powers are discussed especially through their visual representations based on concepts such as power, manipulation, propaganda, and transparency.
