James Joyce and the Middle East

Abstract

Bridging the East and the West, this paper aims to demonstrate the interconnectedness of the Middle East, specifically Persia, and Ireland through the lens of imagology in James Joyce’s ouvre. By pursuing a narrative of the true Irish origin within the Orient, Joyce positions his work as broadly against the British imperialism and in favour of Irish nationalism.
