Creative Expression and Reflective Dialogue in Artefiletics

Abstract

At the end of the 1990s, artefiletics began to emerge as a specific concept of art education at elementary schools and grammar schools, elementary art schools, and secondary schools, whose main principles are reflective dialogue, educational motives and the interconnection of the experienced world with self-discernment. Methodologically, artefiletics operates within the framework of two interrelated activities, namely expression (creative expression) and reflection (a preview of what has been experienced and created). The artistic creation conveys its message through content, form, and artistic expression. The expressional creation depicts the emotional state of the creator, their emotional ties and attitudes towards others and themselves. The discourse ending of a creative expression allows us to discern the meanings of the symbols contained in the artefact. Reflective dialogue also develops the ability to evaluate one’s own artistic and personal performances and leads to their improvement.
