Usability of Digital Platforms to Conduct Poetry Recitation Competitions in Rural and Red Alert Areas of Balochistan

Abstract

Owing to the post-colonial dynasty still alive , English speaking and understanding population chant British poetry in both academics as well as literary circles. With more than fifty high quality poets whose work has also been translated in Chinese and German, Pakistani Literature has a rich heritage of poetry in English. This poetry can be propagated through holding poetry recitation competitions. I am the founder of Poetry Recitation Competitions on Pakistani Poets in English+HumanLibrarySessions in Pakistan. The second Poetry Recitation Competition on Pakistani English Poets was held at FC Public School Makhter; underdeveloped village in Balochistan, terribly broken due to terrorism. Due to unrest conditions of the province, we were not given permission to call our judge from Lahore. Also our school had qualified the preliminary round for a drama competition being held in Lahore. Again owing to the threats to the school, we were not given permission to take students to Punjab. Thus we decided that the third Poetry Competition on Pakistani English Poets be held online and is expected to attract an audience globally. This paper reviews the current project, which will enable the terror stricken province easier opportunities to learn and connect. I am the only teacher of Digital Humanities and due to the threats posed to us, I have taken written permission from my dean to have flexible timings of attendance at university. I am alone working in the domain of DigitalHumanities because of its utility for my region and people.
