The Independence and Transparency of the Judiciary

Abstract

This paper reviews best practices in creating a healthy civil society in Georgia. In the last fifteen years, a number of reforms in the judiciary wave passed in Georgia. What progress has been made recently? What does the independence of the judiciary mean? Judicial independence does not mean separation and its inviolability. Otherwise, the court will become a usurper of power which will lead to the degradation of the system. The discussion includes the following issues: corruption, institutional independence, personal independence, communication with the judge, structural and institutional development.
