Relationship among Online Social Networks, Identity Styles, and Mental Health: A Case Study of Female Students at the University of Isfahan

Abstract

The study population was comprised of all female students from the University of Isfahan and the sample group (n =200) was formed through cluster sampling. A researcher-designed questionnaire, Goldberg General Health Questionnaire, and Berzonsky’s Identity Style Inventory were used for gleaning the data. The results showed that there was a relationship between using social networks and physical symptoms in the participants. In addition, the results showed a relationship between using social networks and depression symptoms in the participants. Moreover, the results indicated that there was a relationship between using social networks and social function disorder of the participants.
