Abstract
PowerPoint use has been suggested as a pedagogical tool for improving learning in the classroom but no research has made mention of using PowerPoint in the context of teaching spelling in the ESL classroom. This paper argues that PowerPoint is a pedagogical tool capable of improving and enhancing spelling competence in the ESL classroom if the teacher interactively engages the learners through the use of PowerPoint software rather than merely reading what is on the screen. The Constructivist premise that learners must actively build knowledge and skills is endorsed by this paper.
