Abstract
Western cultures have played an important role in the formulation of Egyptian architectural thought and reflected on the character of many neighborhoods, in addition to political, economic, and social aspects. Therefore, the content is a legacy of architectural and urban character, which requires preservation. However, recently there is a deterioration of these neighborhoods and architectural character distinguished in Cairo through the demolition and distortion that affected many of its buildings, which necessitates a need to intervene by the authorities responsible for stopping such destruction and preservation of this architectural heritage. The broader scope of the research is determined spatially in Cairo, where it represents a center for all the cultural changes in Egypt. The study displays the suburb of Al Maadi in Cairo, as a case study to analyze the influence of western cultures on the architecture and urbanization of that suburb, that calls for preserving it from any distortion operations that have already begun recently due to the non-activation of laws on how to deal with heritage buildings. The research is divided into two parts, the first includes a theoretical review of the factors that lead to cultural, and social change, and a historical overview of the aspects affecting the spread of western culture within Egyptian society and its influence on architecture and urbanization. The second part represents the scope of application through the study and analysis of the reflection of western cultures on architecture and urban design in Al-Maadi suburb.
