Using Illustrated Narrative in Interdiciplinary Studies and Research: Using Comics as a Research Delivery Method

Abstract

Over the past two decades the format of sequential narrative has gained more acceptance in both mainstream and academic circles. Arts based research is but one forum for using this tool as a communicative delivery method. By using both digital and analog delivery methods a designer, illustrator, cartoonist, or storyteller can present information in an exciting, informative, and innovative way that is both educational and educational. By using the format a researcher or educator can easily deliver multiple disciplinary areas in a single presentation and that a viewer absorbs in an easier fashion and with a deeper level of understanding than traditional delivery methods.Using digital presentation methods, formatting can be also allow for an ease in navigation between text and image allowing for quicker presentations and a deeper immersive experience when examining the work.
