Collaborative Learning in Challenges Related to the UN's 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development Goals

Abstract

ESPM Lifelab® brings together disciplines oriented to the development of competences transversal to the school’s undergraduate courses, among which is Creativity, which brings together 25 classes, 11 teachers and 750 students from 8 undergraduate courses in three states. One of the themes worked on in the discipline was “dynamics, models and the social function of creativity”, about how creative individuals can contribute to society and the creation of a better world, which gave rise to a collaborative design experiment conceived from the junction of two methodologies: challenge based learning and design thinking. The experiment aims to develop projects for the social application of creativity based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), and the classes chose two: 5-gender equality and 14-life below water. We work on boards on the Miro.com platform, where each class has put together a mind map of issues related to the chosen SDG. Each class chose a problem question, from which the groups formulated challenges with cutouts related to their cities. They defined relevance, specific objectives and the impacted social group. The second stage of the activity is being developed from design thinking. The groups are researching and interpreting data and the experiment will end in a collaborative creative activity for proposing solutions. There will be almost 120 proposals for social innovation for 25 problem issues related to the SDGs. In times of pandemic and social withdrawal, the activity is bringing self-realization, and promoting learning to learn as it is important to think about better futures.
