Examination of Traditional Turkish Houses: Osmaneli Houses as an Example

Abstract

The most important indicator of the traditional life of societies stems from housing concepts. Every society in the world has its own local architecture. However, this local architecture and traditional housing concept has become very difficult to maintain in today’s societies. Turks are a community living in nomadic life in Central Asia. Interior space set up; in the transition to a settled life in Anatolia, they shaped their houses harmonization with their previously used tent according to climate and topography. Thus, they created the concept of Turkish House. Factors that transform individuals into society; values, traditions, beliefs, culture, and lifestyle. Every society has a certain history with these characteristics. Turkish society has a very long history starting from Central Asia and spreading to Europe and rooted in Anatolia. Anatolia is a region that has hosted the structural and social development of the Turks. The aim of this study is to explore Osmaneli Houses. One of the regions where traditional residence architecture belonging to the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries were lived was examined.
