Prototyping Services and Products as an Articulated System: Redesigning the Self Service System of Chilean Public Institutions

Abstract

The presentation discusses the methodological results obtained by a multidisciplinary team from the Public Innovation Laboratory at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, who by using Product-Service System design methods have redesigned the self service system from Chilean public institutions. The main objective was to determine how the use of prototyping techniques constitutes a tool to be used transversally throughout the development of the project as a facilitator for understanding scenarios (users, stakeholders, context), co-creation of processes and validation of solutions within the framework of public policies. The results indicate that the use of this technique improves the integration of services and products -where the service is tangiblized- as an articulated system that meets the needs of both an ample range of users and public institutions.
