Urban Village: Lal Dora, Delhi - Adaptation And Transformation

Abstract

The paper highlights the social and landscape transformation of the urban village in Delhi. The rural people try adapting and assimilating with the urban centre but face problems related to social identity crisis, deteriorating environmental quality, and paucity of space. On the other hand, they have an opportunity to reap the benefits of increases in land price, better urban amenities, higher rents, and growth of service sector due to inflow of migrants.
