Abstract
This paper discusses: (1) how the pandemic affected specific areas of criminal law; (2) how criminal and appellate courts adopted new procedures that are likely to remain even after the pandemic subsides; and (3) how prison systems released prisoners early, sometimes without informing victims. The study also considers practical problems globally of administering vaccines to prison workers and prisoners, including ethical discussions of why prison guards were considered high priority for vaccines but prisoners themselves were not.
