From the Perception of Prejudice to Experiences of Discrimination

Abstract

Based on in-depth interviews (n60) with second generation immigrants from Algeria living in Marseille, France, this paper analyzes their perceptions and concrete experiences of prejudice and discrimination. Our research reveals the different ways everyone manages the exposure to prejudice and discrimination, and the impact this has on their everyday lives, their sense of belonging, and their relation with the other French people.
