Abstract
The idea of a global civil society, so popular at the turn of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, seems to be an unattractive political project today. Due to successive economic, political, and ecological crises and the resulting radicalization of social and political life, we have moved away from the global community towards transnational interests. However, in the era of anthropocene, is it not worth rethinking? Maybe the categories of global responsibility and common good still have the potential to be used? The paper considers the issues of local, global and transnational theories of citizenship and their hermeneutical interpretations in relation to the discourses of anthropocene.
