Politics, Power, and Institutions in Developing Countries: The Nigerian Example

Abstract

Human institutions of economy, education, family among a myriad of others are the live-wire of the society. This invariably means that human institutions make society endure and meet certain human needs. It has been discovered that in some developing countries such as Nigeria some institutions have been allowed to die a natural death owing much to our discarding of them and the embracing of institutions considered superior to that of ours. This change has necessitated this research. Several data collection techniques were adopted in our efforts to garner detailed data for analysis such as oral Interviews, literature review, among others. A few theoretical strands were also incorporated into the course of the work. The study concluded with scholars soliciting the revival of our indigenous institutions that emphasize our own good.
