Effect of Water Efficiency on the Architectural Sustainability of Hot and Dry Climate Houses

Abstract

Sustainable architecture has been recognized as an important solution to sustainability. From Iran’s traditional architecture, there are several examples of residential buildings in which the architect pays attention to aesthetic issues and preserves the natural environment in a manner that responds to the climate of each region. A review of traditional architecture in Iran represents a sustainable architecture. The water element as a natural element and the yard as the main element in traditional architecture, the first steps has been eliminated in architectural stability. For example, water systems that use the evaporative cooling system can improve the thermal comfort of inhabitants. The results show that the use of natural elements in the traditional architecture of warm and dry areas of such buildings is placed in the category of sustainable buildings.
