Passing through Sustainable Development Goals 2030: Overlooking Gender Inequality as Political Identity from Feminist Security Theory in Jatinangor

Abstract

Globalisation had already had an impact on social and cultural aspects of society, including gender equality. As one of the Sustainable Development Goals brought by the UN, it is one of the vital parts to make a sustainable future. This also being carried out by Indonesia as a member of United Nations and in Jatinangor as a growing town in Indonesia. A unique culture found in Jatinangor is that the majority of women are the backbone of their family. The women search for money, while their husbands do not. We categorised this as gender inequality because the husband sometimes abuse their wives to work. Henceforth, this paper proposes to apply a new approach using International Relations theory to be able to address gender inequality. The approach proposed is using a gender lens through feminist security theory eliminating gender-based inequality in Jatinangor in order to pursuing the sustainable development goals.
