Abstract
This paper examines global black feminism to argue that Beyonce articles a pan-black feminism in her work that exists outside of mainstream “white” or Eurocentric feminism, and articulates a particularly black, womanist ethos. Building on a black feminist historiography, this paper examines the broader implications of black global feminism as it is articulated in the work of Beyonce, who cites the Somali poet Warsan Shire and the Nigerian writer Chimamanda Adichie. Specifically, I example Beyonce’s last two albums as well as a statement on gender equality she wrote in 2014.
