Daily Spiritual Experience of Filipino Lasallian Youth

Abstract

The COVID-19 experience has disturbed our way of life: it has affected not only our physical well-being but as well our spiritual well-being. It led us to reflect on our daily experience as human persons with an embodied spirit. This paper explores the daily spiritual experience of the Filipino Lasallian youth in a period of adversity and significant change. It employs a descriptive analysis of the daily spiritual experience of the Filipino Lasallian youth. More than 2000 participants participated in the Daily Spiritual Experience Survey. The hypothesis is that the daily spiritual experience of Filipino Lasallian youth is relatively above average in consistency from the past National Filipino Catholic Youth Survey made before the pandemic. Moreover, this paper explores a validation of whether daily spiritual experience manifests highly in terms of feeling thankful for their blessings and least experience through acceptance of others even when they do things that participants think are wrong. Furthermore, it explores a validation of whether there is a difference in the daily spiritual experience of Filipino Lasallian youth in terms of gender and other demographics. Finally, the findings may have implications for the provision of spiritual care and the formation of persons in a time of enormous turbulence and upheaval.
