Abstract
This doctoral programme of study is an effort to fill gaps in current literature of workplace coaching by adding credible empirical research in this field. It establishes the impact of emotional intelligence and psychological acceptance upon coachee readiness to engage in coaching and develop techniques to enhance psychological acceptance and emotional intelligence to enhance coachee readiness. This research utilises multiple regression analysis to establish the nature of relationships between emotional intelligence (EI), psychological acceptance (PA), psychological mindedness (PM) and coachee readiness (CR). Data from the corporate managers of national and multinational organisations seeking to establish baseline estimates of emotional intelligence, psychological acceptance and coachee readiness amongst prospective coachees within the workforce is used. Development regimes to enhance EI, PM and PA are considered. The impact of the interventions upon coachee readiness is investigated, both quantitatively and qualitatively.
