Can you DIY DEI Recruiting?: Techniques and Strategies on Building a Diverse and Inclusive Team

Abstract

Can you DIY DEI Recruiting? In this workshop session, the attendees will learn that infusing DEI into your company takes intentionality, persistence, and leadership involvement. It will be revealed that DEI efforts begin long before the first interview is scheduled. They will also learn that it IS possible to DIY DEI. Attendees will cover the following: 1. Establish DEI specific goals for company/department, 2. Determine the IDEAL fit employee, 3. Brainstorm marketing efforts, 4. Discuss Job Posting Hacks, and 5. Establish the IDEAL company Interview process and retention method. Through these learning objectives, the attendees will be challenged to first look inwardly at the existing company culture and their DEI status through raw and interactive discussion on race, gender, disabilities, etc. Along with the DIY checklist in hand, the attendees will leave with more confidence on who they are looking for, where/how to find them, and how to include/keep them!
