Abstract
For at least 40 years Developmental Education has helped underprepared secondary school graduates make the transition to a robust college curriculum. It has been a factor in maintaining a diverse student body on urban campuses in the US and elsewhere. Recently, the value of Developmental Education is being questioned and has been eliminated in many universities. What will be the effect of this downsizing? In this focused discussion, we hope to hear all sides of the argument for maintaining or eliminating Developmental Education.
