Findings and Lessons Learned in Evaluating Postsecondary STEM Programs for Students with Disabilities

Abstract

Post-secondary programs especially designed to improve access and success for students with disabilities have been implemented by Alabama Alliance for Students with Disabilities in STEM, Southeast Alliance for Students in Disabilities in STEM, and The Alliance of Students with Disabilities for Inclusion, Networking, and Transition Opportunities in STEM. We discuss issues and challenges these students face and the opportunities and interventions that have been implemented to address them. Then we present evaluation findings as evidence of program impacts on students and on the institutions that serve them.
