Abstract
Patricia King, America’s first openly transgender infantry soldier shares her experience and lessons learned during the militaries changing views on LGBTQ+ equality. She uses her experience to inspire authenticity in her audience. Patricia was a pioneer for transgender rights and has spoken at the Pentagon, attended the president’s State of the Union Address, and testified before Congress on the value of military inclusion. This guided, interactive listening session will give participants a voice and a chance to discuss covering, unconscious bias, and the labels we wear. Trish provides resources and practical tips to create a more welcoming environment while showing the value of authenticity.
