Abstract
In an ever increasingly globalized world of education, our campuses now include representation from across the diverse religious landscape. This poses challenges and opportunities. Challenges for addressing the latent intolerance that lurks beneath the thin veneer of inclusion. But also opportunities for capitalizing on the presence of diversity, and in particular religious diversity, that is embodied (not simply theoretically) in the community that shares the academic enterprise – faculty, staff, and students. This address will look in particular at the South Florida community of Lynn University and it’s use of the “Snyder Sanctuary” as a place which houses and celebrates the multi-religious landscape of it’s 110 nation diverse student body. This case study will give opportunity for addressing the challenges and blessing of building religiously diverse communities that enhance, rather than detract from, the pedagogical enterprise.
