Abstract
The purpose of this project is to examine the origins of Black hotel ownership in the United States and explore the challenges these pioneers faced in pursuit of success. Specifically, we identify the first African American hotel entrepreneurs, describe their lodging facilities, and investigate who they were and how they lived in order to inspire current and future generations of entrepreneurs.
