Abstract
Racial discrimination during the hiring process is a significant concern for American businesses. This paper explores cultural bias against Blacks throughout such U.S. hospitality industry pre-employment stages as recruitment, application, screening, interviewing, and selection. While discrimination manifests in alternately subtle and overt ways, this research project analyzes a number of applicable studies as to interrogate disparate treatment and suggest strategies for improvement.
