Abstract
In the world of differences, education is the key to promoting tolerance, which is something we have failed to do in Pakistan. Our students neither understand others’ points of view nor tolerate differences as an innate character of living reality. This paper traces its roots in adolescents’ cognitive learning when they are taught and trained in state-sponsored reality about religion and identity. The paper further details how the state ensures that its version has thoroughly been absorbed and opted as the only way to see the world. This paper first looks at the ways identity and religion are presented to young people in schools and second it answers the broader question of lack of intolerance among youth.
