Abstract
Through a secondary analysis of stories from eight highly successful Black female hospitality and tourism managers, this research interrogates how the experiences of Black females differ from other professionals in this male-dominated industry. Areas of consideration include what job positions and titles these women hold, how much they earn, and what differences in educational attainment exist relative to others. As well, principles of affirmative action and the status of Black females as double minorities are addressed in examining the various challenges faced. Ultimately, this project examines such disparate treatment as sexism, racism, ageism, and colorism, and seeks to uncover the applicable factors at play in the contemporary hospitality workforce.
