Racism: Educational Responses to the Root of the Issue

Abstract

Despite positive strides designed to address discrimination, racism continues to be a problem that impacts virtually every aspect of life, and the role of K-12 education in confronting the issue is an important component in societies efforts to support social justice. This paper addresses the root causes of racism and suggests several strategies for dealing with both the symptoms of the problem and the cognitive issues that underlie the source of the issue.
