Life and Death along Borders: The Frailty of Life and the Humanitarian Desire to Preserve It

Abstract

In South Texas, their exists a perception that immigrants deserve to struggle and/or die as they traverse the wilderness in search of a better life for themselves and their families, or freedoms that are not provided to them in their country of origin, and other reasons. The reality is that even though they may be travelling the unknown terrain, many ranchers in South Texas have made arrangements to provide life-sustaining provisions as they pass through their land. I have photographed the desolates landscapes along the Texas Border and inland ranches where Humanity thrives and compassions exists on both sides of the political spectrum. This is the story of the conservative landowners that prove that they too are responsible for humanity.
