Abstract
Over the years, they have produced hit music but one of their famous songs, Salamat (Thank You) used in the San Miguel Beer Commercial has reached the very old and the very young Filipino music lovers. The song has become an inter-generational music that fused into the senses of the Filipino audience. This paper will provide a thick narrative of the impact created by The Dawn’s Musicology and Discography, the relevance of their music in leveling off the mindset of the Filipinos and their Asian neighbors. The paper uses ethnography to explain the culture behind their musicology. The use of focus group discussion and interview with the followers/fan of the band and the artists themselves proved effective in honoring idols and merging loyal following to the band activities. This study is relevant because it reflects the traditional Filipino values translated to music and this served as a perfect condition to share idealization virtues of friendship and gratitude.
