In the White Expanse

Abstract

This essay examines the spiritual, artistic, and political philosophy of Yves Klein - by focusing on his work that involves “white spaces.” In this paper, the author theorizes how the philosophy of air, emptiness, and Buddhist thought influenced Yves’ aesthetic and radically shifting political attitudes as a Frenchman following World War II.
