An Innovative Approach in Arts Education by Using Cyber-CANOE

Abstract

CANOE is an acronym for Collaborative Analytic Navigation and Observation Environment in Cyber. Since 2012, Dr. Jason Leigh, a co-inventor of the CAVE2 online reality environment, has led a team in design and development of Cyber-CANOE at the University of Hawaii with the goal of establishing a group collaboration environment for teaching, learning, and research. Cyber-CANOE has been successfully implemented at University of Hawaii at several locations. This paper describes how Cyber-CANOE has been utilized in Arts Education at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
