Abstract
The paper will define visual literacy and compare it to the traditional definition of literacy (reading and writing). It will then speak to the necessity for efficiently and directly developing fine and applied arts students’ visual sensitivity. And finally it will show and explain examples of exercises that sequentially develop visual literacy in both two and three-dimensions. One of the most involved exercises will be explained in step-by-step detail.
