New Media as a Viable Alternative to Traditional Film Distribution Systems in Nigeria

Abstract

Film marketing in Nigeria has over the years become a very deplorable business due to the burgeoning spate of piracy that has bedeviled the industry. The effect on the young film industry is abysmal as investors are quick abandoning it due to the fear of recovering their returns on investment. However, with the advent of the new media, the hope in a profit oriented film industry may have just returned. This paper is therefore aimed at researching into the prospects of adopting a digital distribution system for the Nigerian film market. The researcher will use the quantitative research method for his data gathering and analysis.
