Abstract

In this proposed paper and presentation, I will explore some common threads in the struggle for human freedom and dignity. I will propose a concept or theory of self-formation that both respects and draws on cultural diversity and yet does not preclude communities and groups of nations establishing common purposes and goals. I will explore basic elements of economic development and self formation in modes of work and in communal projects. Issues of identity that are both cultural and personal will be explored. The limitations of contexts, cultures and historicities will be scrutinized as the foundation for human freedom. A balance between particularity or individualism and constructive cooperation will be emphasized. Truth, meaning and the pursuit of the good will be reconstructed in view of the above described problematics.
