Update 4 - History Classrooms + Visual Aids

I have a great affinity for history as a subject. Personally, I am greatly facsinated by the study of our past in order to best understand the direction that we need to lead toward as a society. However, despite my love and passion for the subject now it has not always been this way. When I was first introduced to the subject I felt a great disdain towards it because it felt more about a regurgitation of facts instead of an actually beneficial course. As I grew older more history teachers began incorporating different modalities in order to teach us history. Currently, most teachers find ways to incorporate secodnary and primary sources within their currciulum in order to best teach. I personally believe that subjects such as Science and Social Studies can benefit greatly from the incorporation of images. For example, talking about the Holocaust and seeing images about the Holocaust illicit very different responses and when we understand this then we will be able to evolve our history classes. When learners are presented with images and text they are able to develop a whole and more concrete understanding of what historical events have occured. More importantly, I do believe that imagining can be a great tool to also develop empathy.
