The "Olive Branch Petition" was the final attempt by the Second Continental Congress to avoid a war between Britain and the 13 Colonies. The Americans tried to stop any large escalating conflict arising from the two sides. England/ Britain then rejected the American petition to be a rebellion, so King George refused to read the petition and declared the colonists of America as traitors.
