Nicora Stubbs has recently completed a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados. Her Ph.D. research focused on indicators of family functioning such as family cohesion and family adaptability, and how these relate to academic outcomes in Barbadian and St. Lucian students in high school and college. She has also done work on the social well-being of adolescents examining self-esteem, academic performance and participation in delinquent behaviour. Other interests include educational and psychological assessment, parental involvement, and educational policy. She has eleven years experience in the education system in The Bahamas where she has worked as a trained teacher at the primary level as well as a Guidance Counsellor at the senior high school level. Miss Stubbs has been instrumental in implementing several programmes for senior high school students and parents, including parenting workshops. Her undergraduate work focused on Elementary Education with an additional specialization in Early Childhood Education. She holds a Masters of Science degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados.
