Dr. Karen L. Rudick received her Ph.D. in Organizational Communication in 1991 from Purdue University and started teaching at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) in 1992. She teaches courses in Negotiation, Communication Theory, and Interviewing.
Created in 2005 with alumni donations, the Karen L. Rudick Entrepreneurial Scholarship pays tribute to Dr. Rudick’s dedication and service to students majoring in Communication Studies.
Dr. Rudick has received numerous teaching awards such as the following: (1) the 2012 “Golden Apple Award” at the college level for “going above and beyond to make a difference in students’ lives” by EKU’s University Housing, (2) the 2010 “Golden Apple Award” at the department level; (3) the 2009 Distinguished Educational Leader Award for “Exceptional Classroom Performance” by the EKU Student Government Association (S.G.A.); and (4) the 2006 Distinguished Educational Leader Award for “Most Outstanding” teacher by the Eastern Kentucky University S.G.A..
Recently, Dr. Rudick was recognized by the Kentucky Association of Colleges and Employers for her statewide service with the "2010 Distinguished Service Award" given to "an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the advancement of the philosophy and practice of cooperative education internships, career services or employment of post-secondary students and alumni.”
