Dr. Goldsmith's research focuses on environmental aspects of sustainability in development and innovation in the construction industry and the application of ethical principles to the problems of providing the services of the built environment. He sees the process of achieving sustainability as one of the rights and resources of nature and those of humanity. He is currently overseeing longitudinal studies of carbon emissions mitigation in American colleges and universities. His professional activities have included periods in technology development, geotechnical evaluations, commercial/institutional construction management, and ongoing work in traditional and new media development. Dr. Goldsmith is currently adjunct faculty in the Myers-Lawson School of Building Construction in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies at Virginia Tech.
