Dr. Cynthia L. Wilson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Exceptional Student Education at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). Her primary instructional focus is to train teachers to implement research-based, effective teaching practices in an effort to improve educational opportunities for children with mild to moderate disabilities and children who are at-risk for academic failure. In her tenure at FAU, she has been the Department Chair, the Director of a Teacher Education Project, taught 21 different courses, authored/co-authored more than 20 publications, and presented more than 30 papers at international and national conferences. Her publications include book chapters, refereed journal articles, on-line study guides, and interactive companion websites that accompany some of the most widely-read special education textbooks in colleges of education. She has been the recipient of the University Award for Excellence in Undergraduate teaching and has been co-principal investigator and/or project manager of research and teacher preparation grants totaling more than $3 million dollars.
