Title: Six Tips for Using Culturally Relevant Texts in Diverse Classrooms
Authors: Kristin Kibler and Lindsey A. Chapman

This article is about the why and how we should implement culturally relevant texts in the classroom. Kibler and Chapman start off by explaining the why and then go into six tips that could help educators do this successfully in their own classrooms. They take the time to explain statistics, research, and theory before moving into the practical applications.

The authors start with an introduction section. In this, the authors give statistics about how demographics in school are changing. This is giving you the introduction into why we need culturally relevant texts. The next section explicitly states they why with reserach from other authors. After the why, it goes into an explanation of which theory it relates to. Finally, it goes into the six tips to help educators apply this to their classroom.

I love the setup of this article. It is very straightforward and as a teacher gives me all of the information I need for an introduction. I love that they take the beginning to explain the why with statistics, research, and theory explanations. After, they go into detail about six ways you can do this in your classroom. I love the idea of taking my teaching idea and turning it into tips or steps to help teachers actually implement this. In addition, I love that they use the beginning to show why it is important. The bullet points in the text also make it easier to read.
